Matthew Klippenstein is a chemical engineer who has worked in British Columbia’s clean energy economy for the past 20 years. In addition to his extensive hydrogen fuel cell experience, he worked as a consultant in Wood’s renewable energy group performing energy yield assessments for wind and solar projects. The first person to track the Canadian electric vehicle market in 2013, he also led outreach and co-administered the Government of British Columbia’s pioneering EV infrastructure rebates for multi-unit buildings through the Plug In BC initiative of the non-profit Fraser Basin Council.
A co-author of the 2019 British Columbia Hydrogen Study, he also co-wrote the industry reference Fuel Cell Industry Review in 2017 and 2018. His first time speaking about hydrogen at an LNG event was in 2018, and has provided commentary for a variety of industry and general media, including CBC, BBC and NPR.
As the Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association’s Regional Director for Western Canada, Mr. Klippenstein oversees advocacy, marketing, communications, and government relations for the hydrogen sector from British Columbia through to Manitoba.
