Since its establishment in 2021, Andy has served as the President of Had To Holdings Ltd, a company dedicated to delivering impactful guidance and essential services without the burden of unnecessary complexities. Had To specializes in providing interim senior leadership during times of crisis and offers valuable input on many levels including strategic development and board governance. Andy’s robust experience also provides significant value for speaking engagements and in fostering and reinforcing Indigenous relationships.
Before taking on his role at Had To Holdings Ltd, Andy held the position of President and Chief Executive Officer at Waiward Industrial from January 2018 to January 2024, taking that company from fabricator to multifaceted industry player. In this capacity, he provided strategic direction, strengthened business processes, created long-term value, and fostered unprecedented profitable growth. With over 25 years of successful experience, Mr. Brooks has demonstrated his ability to provide fiscal, strategic, and operational leadership in uniquely challenging situations. His leadership style emphasizes a focus on people, growth, operational execution, and most importantly, mutual respect, both locally and internationally.
Prior to his tenure at Waiward, Andy held various senior positions, including Chief Executive Officer at the Alberta Roadbuilders and Heavy Construction Association, President and CEO of Flint Transfield Services, Vice President of Business Operations at Flint Energy, and Chief Financial Officer at Lauren Engineering and Constructors. He also contributed to project operations at Reid Crowther International in Nigeria.
Andy’s education is varied, diverse, and ongoing. He holds a degree in business administration, is a CPA, and is a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors, holding the ICD.D designation. Additionally, he possesses an Executive Leadership Certificate from Cornell. Beyond his professional endeavors, Andy serves as the Vice Chair of the Calgary Drug Treatment Court, was a former director of the Petroleum Services Association of Canada, and has held the position of Vice President on the Canadian Heavy Oil Association Board of Directors. Furthermore, he has contributed as the Chair for the Rotary Challenger Park "Centre for All Abilities" capital campaign.
