A Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Ratnesh Bedi started his career in the construction and property sector in India and was the Deputy General Manager (Finance) with Punj Lloyd Ltd before he moved to Indonesia in 1998. He joined KPMG (Indonesia) and later assumed a Senior Manager role and went on to become the Executive Director Advisor in Deloitte Advisory (Indonesia).
In 2003, Ratnesh joined Pacific Energy Corporation (PEC), one of the business groups in the RGE Group, as the Finance Director. His areas of expertise, with extensive exposure in restructuring and financing, particularly in the China and Indonesian markets, covers project development and financing, cash flow management and budgeting, and establishment of internal controls, systems and procedures. In 2007, he was assigned to APRIL, RGE Group’s paper and pulp business group, as the Chief Financial Officer.
Mr. Bedi has been the President of PEC since 2011. The key focus for Ratnesh is PEC’s venture to develop and construct the Woodfibre LNG liquefaction plant in Squamish near Vancouver, Canada. Woodfibre LNG will be the lowest-emission LNG facility ever built. Mr. Bedi’s role, on behalf of PEC and the investor, is to oversee the work performed by the project teams and to ensure appropriate support is provided to them for securing necessary permits; appointing competent design and EPC contractors to design, build and commission the facilities; engaging with First Nations; establishing strong community relationships; networking with government authorities for statutory and commercial approvals; and securing necessary financing.
Mr. Bedi leads the development of an integrated natural gas supply chain that starts with EO100™ certified sustainable supply at Pacific Canbriam Energy in northeastern British Columbia, through Woodfibre LNG, to receiving terminals in Jiangsu, Fujian, and Guangdong in China. Pacific Energy Corporation is aiming to be one of the world’s most innovative, low-emission, responsible natural gas companies.
