Christy Clark

Former Premier of British Columbia

Christy Clark led Canada’s third largest province for over six years. She left BC with a significantly diversified economy, a plan for a new, clean energy supply, billions of dollars in new infrastructure, and a dramatic reduction of public debt.

As Premier, Clark set an ambitious goal to create a new clean LNG industry in BC. During her tenure, 3 LNG pipeline projects received federal approval, with multiple more approvals in process. This was made possible through new policies, taxation, energy supply, environmental compliance, and workforce preparation. It was also due to an extraordinary effort to attract foreign investment while also upholding social license in Indigenous communities. These initiatives all laid the groundwork for Shell's final investment decision in 2018 to construct a $40 billion LNG Canada project– the single largest private sector investment in Canadian history.

Clark retired from political life in 2017 as the longest serving female Premier in Canadian history and the only female Premier in Canada ever to be re-elected.

Today she is a Senior Advisor at Bennett Jones LLP. She also chairs, advises and directs on a number of non-profit and corporate boards.

In 2018, Christy was recognized by the Women's Executive Network as one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women.
